Event Details

Join us for a soulful session of kirtan and bhakti yoga—a heart-led gathering centred around sacred chanting, community connection, and devotional practice.

What Is Kirtan?

Kirtan is a form of music and mantra meditation, rooted in the yoga of devotion (bhakti yoga). Led in a simple group performance style, we’ll chant easy-to-follow Sanskrit mantras, allowing the rhythm, repetition and collective voice to guide us into a space of presence, joy, and inner peace.

Through chanting, we move from the head into the heart, releasing tension, quieting the mind, energising the chakras, and awakening a sense of unity—with ourselves, others, and the sacred.

There is no need to sing ‘well’ or have any experience. This is a welcoming, non-judgemental space of self-discovery, not performance.

You just need to show up, breathe, and listen—or join in when you feel moved to.

Simply come as you are, with an open heart and a willingness to connect to your True Self.

What Are The Benefits of Kirtan?

Kirtan sessions offer a range of benefits—spiritual, emotional, mental, and even physical. It’s more than just chanting and singing; it’s a form of meditation, heart expression, somatic release, empowerment, and collective healing.

Each session is received differently, depending on you. We set individual intentions for the session, so your session will support you however you need it to.

You might find yourself feeling extremely energised, empowered, and creatively inspired by the session.

Or alternatively, you might find yourself feeling calm, grounded, and at peace.

Either way, kirtan is a great way to uplift your mood and fill your heart with joy.

These sessions are a great way to release pent-up emotions and stagnant energy. Kirtan and bhakti yoga are known to be wonderful tools to purify the heart.

What Is Bhakti Yoga?

Bhakti yoga is the path of the heart—the yoga of devotion, love, and surrender. Unlike other forms of yoga that may focus on the body or the intellect, bhakti invites us to connect with the Divine through feeling, heartfelt expression, and selfless service.

At its essence, bhakti yoga is a way of loving, living, and remembering that the Divine lives both within and all around us.

One of the most beautiful and accessible ways to practise bhakti is through creative expression. Singing, dancing, painting, writing, or making any form of art can become a spiritual practice when done in a spirit of devotion.

When we create with the intention of reverential offering, rather than achieving, we move beyond ego, beyond perfectionism, and into a space of pure presence. It’s not about performance, it’s about connection.

Practices such as chanting sacred mantras and singing devotional songs help to open the heart and invite a direct experience of the Divine.

Dancing and moving the body in joy, reverence, or surrender can become a prayer in motion.

When offered from the heart, simple actions can become powerful spiritual acts.

Creativity, when channelled through devotion, becomes a bridge between the seen and the unseen, the human and the Divine, the self and the soul.

In this way, bhakti yoga is not just a practice, but a way of living artfully—where everything becomes sacred, and every expression becomes prayer.

What Are The Benefits of Bhakti Yoga?

Bhakti is about feeling the Divine through your own heart.

Bhakti yoga offers a deeply nourishing path to inner peace, connection, and emotional well-being.

Rooted in love and surrender, it invites us to turn towards the Divine—however we understand it—with an open heart.

Through practices like chanting, singing, prayer, storytelling, dancing or even devotional art, bhakti helps dissolve the sense of separation, softens the ego, and cultivates qualities such as compassion, humility and joy.

It can be profoundly healing, especially during times of emotional upheaval, as it provides a safe and sacred outlet for expression.

Bhakti yoga reminds us that we don’t need to strive to be ‘perfect’—we simply need to show up with sincerity, and allow the heart to lead.

Event Itinerary

To begin our kirtan gathering, you’ll be introduced to the basics of kirtan philosophy so that you understand the principles of practice.

This will be followed by a grounding practice, breathwork, and intention setting.

We’ll then move into chanting and singing the mantras alongside live instruments.

IMPORTANT NOTE: You are welcome to come and enjoy the session without participating in chanting the mantras if you wish.

You can simply stay seated or lie on your yoga mat and immerse yourself in the healing sounds that surround you in this sacred container.

Similarly, if you feel called to get up and dance, you’re more than welcome to flow to your heart’s desire.

This event is suitable for beginner, intermediate and experienced yoga and spiritual practitioners.

The event is child-friendly, accessible for ‘all bodies’, suitable for all levels of yoga experience, and trauma-informed.
